Once every month Huis De Pinto collaborates with a treasured Amsterdam film curator to transform our beautiful historic library into a cosy cinema for independent and experimental films. All films and the context in which they were made are thoroughly introduced which, in combination with the historical aesthetic of Huis De Pinto, allow the viewer to fully immerse themselves.
This month we will pay extra attention to the core value of all libraries: The pleasures of reading and being read to. In La Lectrice (98 min.), famous French actress Miou-Miou delivers a stunning performance as Constance, a young woman who reads a novel aloud to her lover. The novel, also called La Lectrice, is about a woman who offers her services as a reader of literature, inspiring Constance to do the same. The film brilliantly intertwines these two stories, deluding the line between fact and fiction and taking the viewer on a fantastical journey through classic European literature.venue open at 20:30
